Well, it worked on FreeBSD. :-)

With Curt's help, the code in acinclude.m4 and src/maps.c has been
fixed to compile and run on Linux and Cygwin, kinda.

The reason I say "kinda" for Cygwin is that the default ImageMagick
Cygwin package that people download and install does not have X11
support.  This came as a surprise to me.  I am currently writing a
patch to acinclude.m4 to detect whether or not ImageMagick has X11
support.  Once I have a good test, the snapshot code will change to
deal with that support.
