Problem solved....

the kd4rdb-2 station was running AGWPE... which means kiss mode.  The tnc 
had slipped out of kissmode and was in terminal mode (converse if you 
will), and was using the callsign of kd4rdb-3.  Once I had this figured out 
it was a short matter to change the callsign to kd4rdb-2 for "out of kiss 
mode" and also to put it in KISS mode permanently.  The TNC is a kpc4, so 
what is needed is the PERM command.  All is well on the home front now.
