I noticed a chance like this in the "CVS Instructions" on the sf project 
pages for various projects and I've been setting up anonymous CVS access 
like this:

cvs -d:pserver:anonymous at cvs.sf.net:/cvsroot/xastir login

and so on. The only chance is cvs.xastir.sf.net -> cvs.sf.net

At least from what I could tell.
