Couple other questions I prolly should have asked - is your internet
working and, can you reach http://tiger.census.gov from a normal browser?

A couple tricks I've used: turn on debugging level 512, the watch
for the line that looks like:

fileimg is http://tiger.census.gov/cgi-bin/mapper/map.gif?&off=GRID&on=counties&on=CITIES&on=places&on=majroads&on=railroad&off=states&on=interstate&on=ushwy&on=statehwy&on=water&on=shorelin&on=miscell&lat=38.952833&lon=-79.156792&wid=7.214233&ht=3.572622&iwd=986&iht=628

That is a (fairly ugly) URL that you can copy/paste into a browser and
it should retrieve the map you're intending to view.

Also in the debugging output should be some timing info on how long the
current query to tiger.census.gov took, if it returns successfully. I just
did a zoom level 2048 query with most of the details turned on and got:
"Query took 240 seconds"

The machine there at census does get slow, now and then - this may
not be a problem at YOUR end, rather, theirs.
