I had to thunk on it for a bit.  You know the objections I threw out
originally when the zoom level started changing on us unexpectedly
and some side-issues started appearing (zoom-box for one).  I do
however see the advantages in matching the maps more closely.  It's
easy enough to see these differences between the OSM and the .GEO
versions if you mess with the zoom levels (Yes, you were right...
so far!).

I'll be happy with your plan above if there's some user notification
that zoom-levels will change to fit the map.  Perhaps a pop-up at
the point where the Apply or OK buttons are pressed on the Map
Chooser?  I wouldn't want it to pop up everytime somebody
zoomed/panned...  That would really get annoying.  Other ideas as to
how to notify the user?

The reason I would like to see the notification is that the above
changes will change the way Xastir interacts with the maps, after 11
years of doing it the current way.  It's good to keep the users
informed when things change on them.
