[Xastir] Some advice on a dedicated Xastir box please?

I've successfully run CVS Xastir from months ago (probably called 1.1.3) on an 
IBM Thinkpad with a 486 processor at 75 MHz and 16 MB of RAM. This is with 
shapefile maps. It took a good while to draw maps (upwards of 6-7 seconds ;-) 
), but other than that it worked fine.
