Would it be a good idea to have the Xastir home page point to such
packages? That way we wouldn't clutter up the SourceForge download
area with old binary packages, yet users could still find them.
Also: It'd be nice to have certain maps and map libraries (known to
work well with Xastir) available from the Xastir home page as well,
perhaps pointing to Xastir map download sites.
For Cygwin we're running into a situation where some instances of
libgeotiff and ImageMagick work well, and others don't. Of course
the ones that work well can't be found on the main sites anymore, so
we need to be able to point the users to slightly older versions at
the moment.
If a user could have one-stop shopping for all their file needs,
even if a lot of the pointers go to other sites, it'd be much easier
for users to get up and running.
Here's what I'd like to see available:
Pointers to Compiled Binaries:
------------------------------
Slackware
SuSE
RedHat
Debian
FreeBSD
Cygwin
MacOSX
Others?
Libraries:
----------
libproj
libgeotiff
shapelib
imagemagick
GPSMan
Maps:
-----
NWS Shapefile weather alert files (pointers to?)
Pointer to shapefile world map
Tigerline/2000 Shapefiles (pointers to?)
USGS geotiff files (no DRG-E's or MrSID compressed files)
USGS GNIS files (with long lines truncated)
Pointers to pocketAPRS maps
Pointers to dosAPRS/winAPRS maps
If we could have at least two download sites then we'd be covered
better in the cases of hard drive failure or loss of network
connectivity.
