Linux:

    /dev/ttyS0 = COM1
    /dev/ttyS1 = COM2


Solaris:

    /dev/ttya
    /dev/ttyb


Windows:

    com1
    com2


Don't know what they're called on FreeBSD or MacOSX.

Names change drastically if you're using USB-to-serial adapters.
