[Xastir] Setting up on RH 9

Since I had problems my firts time around, I thought I would as those of 
you  who have successfully installed Xastir on your RH 9 system to let 
me know exactly what you did/didn't do to get it up and running.  My 
first time I tried following the generic Linux install documents and ran 
into probems.  So, using a clean File Server install of RH 9, what 
packages did you actually have to make/install to get it up and working 
?  I pretty much went out and got all of the tarballs listed in the 
install docs the first time around but must have got a wrong version 
somewhere as it gave me major problems when I actually started Xastir.  
No problems with the make/installs (other than one dependency problem 
which was an easy fix) and the final build of Xastir.

IF I am reading what appears to be installed as the basic RH install if 
looks like I need libproj, proj-nad and ImageMagick to get it up and 
running.  I included Image Magick as the first time around xastir 
refused to see the ImageMagick that  RH installed.  One tarball later 
and that problem went away.

I did go through all of the steps in the docs inluding the ld.so.conf 
changes.

   Thanks for any help you can give this relative newbie (when it come 
to making and installing highly interdependent like these).
