Try looking in /bin, /usr/bin and /usr/local/bin for it.  Perhaps
/sbin and /usr/sbin as well (although those seem unlikely).

Xastir doesn't use "display" directly, but it is a user-mode
ImageMagick command that will tell you whether ImageMagick is
working at all for that image type.

One issue we had on some systems was that a different DLL was
required in order to make ImageMagick work.  That might be the issue
you're having.  On one NT4 box it had two versions of the DLL
installed on it, and I just had to rename one of them and
ImageMagick started working.  I think I might have documented that
in the README.win32 file.
