Well, the loss of slider function problem persists using ImageMagick 
5.5.7-1 source tarball - dated 14 May.

Run'n RH 7.1 here - but, I've  slapped in so many tarballs of this and 
that, plus the up2date stuff - who knows what it is now <g>.
