Ok.  I remember another user or two mentioning something about very
high CPU usage with Festival running.  I don't run Festival in my
default configuration except in my Jeep, and I don't watch the CPU
usage much there (I need to keep my eyes on the road).

I also remember somebody mentioning high CPU w.r.t. network
reconnects, as Gerry just did again.

Both of those need to be investigated.

You could turn off the speech togglebuttons temporarily to see if
Festival is the root cause of the spikes on your system.
