On further tinkering, it is probably worthwhile to add 3 digits of precision
to the lat/lons specified in the Kentucky metadata I listed, changing:
  38.6667 to 38.6666667, 37.0833 to 370833333, and 36.3333 to 36.3333333

This makes listgeo print out the correct values in DMS when it lists the 
modified tif file.  As I originally posted it, they get reported as 0.12" off.
