Well, the projection used for the Tigermap images is something very
weird anyway (sine?), which renders fast on their server, but
distorts the map terribly when zoomed way out.

Just for map accuracy, I wouldn't zoom out to much more than a state
or two area using that particular server.  Use local maps instead,
or use the terraserver/toposerver options (but those last two don't
give you street maps).

README.MAPS has a bunch of sources for maps, some requiring that
optional libraries be installed.  I'd at least recommend that you
install Shapelib, which will give you the ability to display weather
alert areas once you download the NOAA files for them.
