[Xastir] Map Problems

I'm using Xastir 1.2.1 on RH9.  Looks like it's working if I create a
smaller window (about 1/4 screen) and set the timeout to 120.  If I try to
make the Xastir screen any bigger it dosne't seem to work.  Now I know.  An
way to improve that performance, maybe all the APRS packets clog the pipe.
Let me know if I can help in any way (I'm not a programmer).
