[Xastir] Festival Problem...???

You definitely need to start "festival_server" before starting Xastir.
Can you run "festival_client" and then type 

	(SayText "Hello there")

and have it speak?  That will tell you whether Festival is up and
running properly, and Xastir should be able to connect to it in the
same manner.

Also, check your File->Configure->Speech settings.  I think at least
one of those togglebuttons is non-sticky, meaning that it doesn't get
saved between Xastir runs.  On purpose by the way.

Someone else mentioned a problem on some Linux system or other that
had to do with firewall settings or a festival server setting?  Can't
remember what it was now.

I just installed Festival RPM's (old ones I had from an earlier
install) on top of SuSE 8.2 and created an RC script that starts
Festival when the machine starts.  Xastir comes up talking to
Festival every time.
