[Xastir] compile/install 1.2.1 for Linux

Well now i'm trying to compile & install 1.2.1
on my Linux box (not Cygwin this time).

after ./configure, it says that shapelib is going
to be included, but not ImMagick, so i went into
the config file and changed that #undef to #define.

Then i did:

(make clean;make -j3 2>&1) | tee make.log

At the end of the make, i got messages:

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find - llcms
collect 2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [testawk] Error 1
make[2]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs ...
make[2]: leaving directory '/root/xastir/src'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: leaving directory '/root/xastir'
make: *** [all] Error 2

Any help appreciated.  For info i snagged the
ImMagick 5.5.7 binaries (not source) at imagemagick.
org.  I seem to already have had some ImageMagick
5.4.7 in /usr/lib, possibly from the RH9 ISOs, not
sure.
