[Xastir] aprsd unclear

I'm a little bit unclear on the use of aprsd, and am asking for
advice. I've tried to rtfm, but nojoy so far.

Does it work this way:

- aprsd starts, listens for NMEA input on
udpport (1315). When it hears data, it logs it and stores it.
- aprsd also listens for tcp connections on mainport (10151)

- xastir starts, and using Interfaces/Properties, define an
Internet Server on the aprsd mainport (10151). xastir then
opens a tcp connection to aprsd

- as xastir runs, it occasionally polls the tcp connection for
  data from the aprsd server.

- aprsd sends collected data over the tcp connection to xastir.

Q: is aprsd an 'Internet Server', or is it something else?

Sorry if I haven't rtfm'ed the correct section, but advice would
be appreciated.

Wendell
