That's probably the optimum solution. What is the data source for the
SDTS? I found one reference that indicated the data was in a DEM?
I have a plan in mind for a script to generate a grid of Tiger .gif and
.geo files so I can download them to the laptop. If I have time I'll
try it out tonight.

I'd seen that page before, but it's been a while. The DF features
would have been particularly useful last weekend, when the battery for
the GPS died well before the payload touched down.
