You can set up the soundcard interface on Linux as either an AX.25
kernel interface or as a serial KISS interface.  Either will work.

I don't know about the Baycom interface, as I've never used one.
I'm fairly sure though that you can set that up as an AX.25 kernel
interface.

As far as Linux and various interfaces go, the "linux-hams" mailing
list might be the best place to ask questions, at least if you don't
get satisfactory answers here on this list.
