[Xastir] Cannot get tif file into Map Chooser

I left the folders eliminated. /usr/local/share/xastir/maps presently
holds:
.   O37122H1.fgd  o37122h1.tif     tigermap.geo    xUSRadar.geo
..  o37122h1.tfw  terraserver.geo  toposerver.geo

This is what the Map Chooser shows:
tigermap.geo
xUSRadar.geo
terraserver.geo
toposerver.geo
