[Xastir] Serial Port/libMagick problem

I have successfully compiled and run Xastir on Red Hat 9... I added a
TNC and got the "hard fail" error message.  

After I looked at the Install guide, I issued the following commands as
a root user

chgrp uucp /usr/local/bin/xastir
chmod 2555 /usr/local/bin/xastir

When I run xastir, I get the following error message:

xastir: error while loading shared libraries: libMagick.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

When I list the bin directory, I get this for xastir in /usr/local/bin/xastir

-r-xr-sr-x    1 root     uucp       801636 Jun 24 17:14 xastir

I tried issuing the command 

chgrp root /usr/local/bin/xastir

then re-ran xastir and got the same message.  

Any ideas on what might be causing it?  Thanks--
