Because it is supposed to be?  If you don't retransmit it, then it
expires off people's screens.  New people don't end up knowing about
it either.  APRS is supposed to be a system where you can see the
entire picture within ten minutes or so.

In your File->Configure->Timing sliders is a slider for setting the
interval for object/item transmissions.

BTW:  When you killed the object, you were sending out a killed
object for some period of time as well, so that the object gets
deleted from people's screens as soon as they see the killed object.
