[Xastir] HSP Fix, does it exist?

HSP is broken in 1.2.0, it does work in 1.2.1. I haven't gotten around to
trying any of the newer versions, I changed jobs and haven't had time to
"play".

Subject: [Xastir] HSP Fix, does it exist?

Hello,

I have been trying to get my eTrex GPS reciever and KPC-3 (non-plus) TNC
working with Xastir (1.2.0). I built the simple interface that is described
on:

http://www.nwaprs.org/hsp.htm

and setup the interface for the HSP option. Alas, after hours of counting,
checking and rewiring, I cannot seem to get current GPS position or incoming
packets displayed. Here is what I know:

1. Both the KPC-3 and the eTrex work with Xastir when used seperately with
the respective single device interface setup.

2. Incoming packets are recieved, then sent to the computer. I can see the
little red interface arrow point 'in' when that occurs, just as it does
during solitary TNC use. However, no display of any info from that packet
occurs, as if it was never recieved

3. When I command a transmission, it does occur.

4. Removing the GPS from the HSP adatper does not help in recieving packets.
Removing the TNC does not help recieving the GPS info.

5. Both the TNC and GPS are set to the correct speed, and the setup for the
interface has been set for this speed - 4800 baud, 8N1.

6. I am running Red Hat Linux version 2.4.20-8 on a Sony Vaio laptop
(i686) (PCG-F540) with a single serial port. Never have had a problem with
it before.

I looked in the archives about this problem, and found a discussion of it in
July 2003. As far as I could tell, the problem was found, but was it fixed
in the newest version?

Thank you for your time.
