[Xastir] Windows 98 feature after deleting Cygwin/Xastir

another thought - when you delete - hold down shift and thus bypass the 
recycle bin...
and also check, how much disk space you have left when your swap file is kept. 
- might be constantly swapping...
what's it doing when it's slowing down? lost of hard drive activity, ethernet? 
or just pausing without much going on?

otherwise - installing linux really is a very good idea - it'll give you a 
modern operating system. win98 is 6 years old and include many "features" 
that are considered bad practice even by MS standards.
