The timeout setting solved the problem Curt. After a complete new Cygwin /
Xastir install, I'd forgotten about the setting.

I haven't found a menu item to enable map caching unless it's a default
setting.

The bookmark works good.

Thanks Curt, now on to Shapefiles and other goodies!
