[Xastir] Xastir is running with no data

Xastir is up and running with no packet data the modem that I want to 
use is the BayPac BP-2M
I tried ax25 TNC ( AX25 support not compiled into Xastir) that should be 
for my BayPac BP-2M yes or no
Since BayPac BP-2M running under ax25 on bay0 am I going to half to 
recompile xastir, so that  AX25 is supported into Xastir
I can start over if this is have to.
This is not a total loss, I am get educated on this.
