[Xastir] DRG Problem

I downloaded a DRG from https://maps.tva.com/

It contained a .tif file and a .tfw file. I used the mapfgd.pl script
distributed with Xastir to create a .fgd file. All appeared OK. I indexed new
maps and the DRG was in my map chooser.

When I chose this DRG, I get a black box on the screen in the area where the
tiff should display. Xastir complains about "unknown field with tag 33918" a
few times as it trys to display the file.

Has anyone else used these TVA DRGs? Is there some conversion that I am missing?
