Yea, we change the cursor to a pencil in that mode, and change the
cursor in Measure or Move mode as well, so you can tell that
something different is going to happen.

You have to have the "third" mouse button enabled, which on a
two-button mouse means pushing down on both buttons. You then click
the third button (or both buttons at once) at each vertice. For the
last line segment if you're drawing a polygon you use the "Close
Polygon" menu entry instead and Xastir will close it for you and
compute the area enclosed by the polygon.

Not sure what's wrong there. If I put in 1 and 1 for the offsets I
get a very small area object. I go back into Object->Modify and I
still see 1 and 1.

You might try the latest-latest CVS code as I was in there messing
with the Object/Item parsing a bit lately. Perhaps you ran into a
bug that was just fixed.

If you can write down the exact mouse and keystrokes that duplicate
the problem on your end, send them to me and I'll see if I can
duplicate it. If I can duplicate the problem I'll be able to fix
it. The reverse is true as well.
