[Xastir] Where to download usable maps?

Depends on what you're after.  You can create snapshots of the
current view which will show up in your ~/.xastir/tmp directory
along with a .geo file for them.  Copy/rename each snapshot set to
your maps directory and re-index.

You can also snag USGS DRG topo maps and use those.  I have all of
WA on CD plus a bit of ID/OR/MT.

You can also snag the 2004 Tiger/Line data converted to Shapefiles,
which are vector maps and will load quickly.  The conversion was
down by one of the Xastir developers and the converted data is
hosted by one of our users.  It's the same raw data that the
online Tigermaps are created from, only in vector form.  Probably
newer data than is on the Tigermap site as well, as this data just
came out.

off the Xastir homepage for a bunch of links to download sites.
