"make install" doesn't touch the ~/.xastir heirarchy.

Xastir itself will create everything needed from scratch when it
starts up though, if needed files aren't there.  In this last case,
Xastir had code added to it to translate old paths to new in one
spot, which evidently didn't work for your modified paths.

Xastir proper uses generic C.  Scripts use Perl/sh/bash/python, but
mostly sh and Perl.
