[Xastir] OT: Remote Radio control with linux?

I know this has nothing to do with Xastir or APRS, but I hope you will not
mind the intrusion.

I have a Linux box (Debian) that I would like to connect to a radio at my
house. I'd like to then be able to listen and transmit via that radio
remotely.

Something like EchoLink would work, but I would prefer something that is just
like a client/server thing where I would be the only one able to use it.

Anyone know of anything like this for linux?
