Can't say I have a good answer, since I only have one KISS TNC to play with
here, but, as has been noted previously, Xastir isn't entirely intended for
digipeating.  You might find more flexibility and control for a multi-radio,
multi-port operation if you look into something like aprsdigi or Digi_ned.
