Bingo (I think).
[NB: Both stations are TX'ing minimum power and are not in coverage of
any other digis. Both have no antenna connected]
Ok, so another hard reset later, I have set the TNC up in terminal mode.
I have used this page http://www.ke4nyv.com/aprs.htm to set CALL,
BEACON EVERY etc.
I have set the TNC up on xastir using the startup script (the node is EI8FDB-10)
When I start everything up and then beacon from the handheld (EI8FDB-7) I get:
# 1196540189 Sat Dec 01 20:16:29 GMT 2007
EI8FDB-7>USRQPU,WIDE1-1,WIDE2-2:'|-$l [/>home

# 1196540522 Sat Dec 01 20:22:02 GMT 2007
EI8FDB-7>USRQPU,WIDE1-1,WIDE2-2:'|-$l [/>
When I send a msg from -7 to -10 I get:
# 1196539999 Sat Dec 01 20:13:19 GMT 2007
EI8FDB-10>APX191,WIDE2-2::EI8FDB-7 :hello! ack{0n}I

EI8FDB-7>APK001,WIDE1-1,WIDE2-2::EI8FDB-10:ack0n}I
For IGate options I have setup:
For the interface:
Allow RF to Inet only
For global:
Allow RF to Inet and Inet to RF.
When I check on APRS-IS servers for the location of EI8FDB-7 I get:
http://aprs.fi/?c=raw&call=EI8FDB-7
http://www.db0anf.de/hamweb/aprsdb/showdata/EI8FDB-7/shdigiusage
So, my ultimate question: this proves the -7 SSID was IGated by -10?
If this is the case, then I think this setup is ready to be tried on
the Ubuntu setup.
Any feedback? Suggestions?
Thanks Tom, I owe you a virtual pint/glass of soda.
