Jim,

    Very nifty device, but pricey as with all things Garmin.

    Looking at the spec sheet, there doesn't appear to be data in or out 
for the handheld unit, only a power adapter.

    The next thought I had was what data format is the 'collar' unit 
transmitting back to the handheld unit?  This isn't listed on the spec 
sheet, but if it is standard NMEA, I would think you would be able to 
receive it on your 2-meter, than output it to a laptop.  That's a lot of 
IF's.

    Why not make up a little waterproof beacon with a TT3?

    I am sure more guys on here will have many more ideas then I.
