That's described on our Wiki.  It's a Lesstif bug, or perhaps an
Xastir->Lesstif integration bug.  If you install OpenMotif instead
you should see the labels.  I think the Wiki has screenshots of what
the timing sliders _should_ look like.  Up the correct slider to the
max.  It won't be a 5-second timer.  I think the default is 45
seconds or more.  I set mine to 120.  It's the bottom right slider.
