[Xastir] DRG reprojection: can anyone make sense of this?

As I posted earlier, I've been in search of 100/250k topo DRGs for Michigan and some of the surrounding areas. I finally came across a source, but the files are apparently in a projection that Xastir doesn't support. They show up in the map list but don't render...

The site that linked to this source provided this info:

Unfortunately, it makes reference to "Erdas ViewFinder", a Windows app that does not seem to exist anymore. Can anyone read this and tell me how this can be done using stuff I'm likely to be able to get?
