[Xastir] Having trouble with interface control

I believe this has been solved in the past by disabling Desktop
Effects (under Appearance preferences).

BTW, the Xastir package available via Synaptic is rather old. If
you're comfortable enough with Linux and think you'll use Xastir
enough to justify it, I'd suggest installing Xastir from CVS with this
tutorial: http://www.xastir.org/wiki/index.php/HowTo:Ubuntu_8.10 This
is how I install Xastir.
