There is a stable version in the official ports tree that uses (or
soon will) the 1.9.6 source package however this port is for someone
who wants to grab the latest CVS version.

How often do you tag the repository or drop a dev .tgz file?

Also, updating ports in the official tree can take quite a while so I
don't think I could keep up with a regular update schedule, probably
any more often than 3 monthly and someone would have to either tag the
repository or create a snapshot. If we're going to go to that effort,
we might as well drop stable releases every 3 months instead.

Carl.
