KISS

When you lock it do something that will prevent "accidental" mouse clicks or
drags on teh map or other simple keyboard  changes and as a backup. If the
lock is on write a temporary bookmark that always uses the same name so IF
it gets changed by some other means through the menu system, you can go
activate the temp bookmark and go back where you came from.

How much coding would that require?
