[Xastir] Xastir2.0 v.s. OpenGTS.Org?

I was also surprised to see an SQL server in the suggestions for
Xastir2.0 because they are so heavy weight. But if that door is
already open, and re-implementing Xastir2.0 will be so difficult,
then why not start with something that already might work?

I'm not trying to push an agenda, I'm really just asking a question.
Given the slow progress on Xastir2.0 do we really need to re-invent
the wheel if this fits the bill? Does it actually fit the bill?

I personally don't like SQL servers and think that a filesystem makes
a fine database. The complexity of an SQL server is monstrous and
seems to follow on the same problems that xastir currently suffers from,
namely too much borrowed code that changes too uncontrollably.
But if an SQL server is deemed the way to go, then I'll go that way.

I've seen examples of what OpenGTS can do and heard other GIS
people who were *very* impressed with it so I thought I'd raise the
question.
