If it's "Compressed" format and not Mic-E format you're after, use
Xastir to convert.
*) Optionally turn off transmit of objects/items.
*) File->Configure->Defaults: Turn on compressed objects/items
*) Create an object or item, enter a name and lat/long and hit one
of the "Create" buttons.
*) Go look at ~/.xastir/config/object.log and snag out the
compressed portion of the packet.
*) Reset the system back to where it was when you started.
NOTE: If you delete the objects/items leaving Xastir running, and
turn on object/item transmit again, Xastir will send out deleted
object packets for those until it times out. People won't see them
on their maps, but the packets will go out. Kill/restart Xastir
before turning on that transmit flag to prevent that from happening.
