[Xastir] Is there any one version of Linux better than another for xastir ?

i built for fedora 13 with no problems with the packages below:
gdal-1.6.1
ImageMagick-6.5.7-9
lesstif-0.95.2
libax25-0.0.12-rc2
libgeotiff-1.2.3
pcre-6.3
proj-4.4.9
shapelib-1.2.10

I also built:
ax25-apps-0.0.8-rc2
ax25-tools-0.0.10-rc2
I needed "ncurses-5.7" for axlisten to build.

fedora 13 has been a positive experience overall.
