Library versions possible but less likely.  Hardware versions
perhaps slightly more possible.

I have one such machine at home with shared memory for it's GPU.  I
might have to try the same test on it with a full Firenet.us feed to
see if the CPU load is a bit more.  Plus turn on all display info
for stations and turn on tracks and such.

BTW:  In the INSTALL file distributed with Xastir, near the end, are
instructions for running Xastir under "gprof" to see where the code
spends its time.  I've run the code under it periodically to knock
down the winners.

Sabotage via RF or over the internet?  Firewalls protect me on the
internet side.  Xastir has so far been bulletproof on the RF side.
I'm in a high-activity APRS RF area too.
