[Xastir] locked

hello everyone, I am have been trying to use the xastir wiki to use the ax25 network kernel. I get this error on startup of xastir:
Found an existing lockfile /var/lock/LCK..ttyUSB1 for this port!
Lock is stale!  Removing it.
I am trying to get a Igate going uses the AX25 how to wiki,
using Ubuntu 9.10 amd 64   thanks kd5mkv steve
