[Xastir] Getting message in terminal window - what does it mean?

Thanks Curt,

When I try to load hz30mr09.shp or z_11ja10.shp, I see this message:
No DBFAWK signature for ... !
Using default

What I normally have showing is the tigermap.geo - this gives me what
appears to be a 'map' - white background, shows roads, towns, rivers, etc.
and station names and some station weather info.

Loading c_15j109.shp or fz_05au09.shp gives a gray overlay with station info
and some rivers (I think, just lines)

Loading z_11ja10.shp looks like this too, except the overlay is magenta.

Loading hz30mr09.shp, mz15j109.shp or oz02jn09.shp doesn't appear to do
anything, looks like what I see with the tigermap.geo loaded.

Clicking on the topo map buttons in the dialog box doesn't appear to do
anything either.

Like I said, I'm not sure what I should expect to see if all it working
right.

Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Norman

Which Shapefiles?

dbfawk files customize how Shapefiles are drawn in Xastir. If you
don't have dbfawk files that match your maps, Xastir doesn't know
how to do this customization while drawing.

If we know which Shapefiles you're trying to load we might be able
to point you to dbfawk files that will work with them, or tell you
that there haven't been any created yet. You can create your own
with a little reading and practice.

It used to work that way, but the server that was feeding us the
alerts went away. A new and different one is in place now, but it
doesn't feed us the quantity of alerts that the old one did. I
believe it only sends the most urgent sorts of alert messages out.
