[Xastir] A challenge

One of the rocket launching guys has written an application that narrates his rocket flights in real time. For a sample of what it sounds like go here;

What I'd like to do is have Xastir feed a script that will do the same thing to track an object, in my case a balloon flight.

Anyone have any idea where I could start to make this happen?
