[Xastir] Linking to Maps on SD

I've been trying to get Xastir running on a friend's eee pc and I've hit
a snag. When I started expanding the Tiger maps I ran out of drive
space. I'm relatively new to Linux but my thought is that I can load the
maps to a SD card since it has a slot for that and then create a
symbolic link from the map directory for Xastir and the SD card so the
app would still find them.

Does this sound feasible?
