Hi Dale,

Did you crack open the case and look inside?  Is it an epoxy-blobbed chip, or 
a packaged chip?  If it's epoxied, is there anything that looks like a test 
trace or otherwise unused PCB trace that might carry a GPIO signal?  Wishful 
thinking, I know...
