[Xastir] ax25 question

The executable resides in the file  /usr/local/bin/xastir  but have not able to get ax25tnc to work on ubuntu 10.4, which means I will give it a shot another machine.
I running Ubuntu i386 version on a Hp AMD 64 with xastir-2.0.1 from CVS. thanks Kd5mkv
